From climate awareness to youth action, how can climate education ignite the youthful power to safeguard the future of our planet?
Under the guidance of the Center for Environmental Education and Communications of Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Shenzhen Damei Youth Growth and Development Guidance Center has linked the Greater Bay Area with city partners including Beijing and Nanjing, mobilizing numerous schools, enterprises and public-interest organizations. Together they have carried out more than 180 activities, including eco-aesthetic education painting, climate-themed forums and ecology science popularization classes, engaging 150,000 participants. Through field trips, young people see nature; through creative work, they understand ecology; and through dialogue, they build consensus—turning ideas into real action, time and again. At the youth action session of the side event“Cross-sector Synergy, Climate Action Together”, three youth representatives from the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area will share their own experiences, letting the world feel the action of Chinese young people in safeguarding our shared home. In responding to climate change, Chinese youth are not merely bystanders but actors. We look forward to joining hands with more institutions and young people to take part together in global climate action.
