From climate risk to health defense: how can scientific early warning become action that protects lives?
In the thematic side event“Cross-sector Synergy Climate Action Together”, the climate change and health session will bring together Yang Feng, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association (CPMA); Wang Jianwei, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and Vice President of the CPMA;  Zhou Xiaonong, Chief Expert on parasitic disease control at the China CDC and Chair of the Global Health Branch of the CPMA; and Li Tiantian, Deputy Director of the Institute for Environment and Health-related Product Safety at the China CDC and Standing Committee Member of the Environmental Branch of the CPMA, together with Raman Bedi, President of the World Federation of Public Health Associations, experts from the World Health Organization, and other international partners. Focusing on the pathway of “One Health–surveillance and early warning–adaptation action–global coordination,” and grounded in China’s practices in infectious disease surveillance and early warning as well as heat-health risk warning, the discussion will connect cross-border joint prevention and control of tropical diseases, global strategies for climate-health adaptation, and the improvement of public health literacy, uniting efforts under the One Health collaborative framework and translating climate scientific knowledge into joint action to protect human life and health.
