International Environmental Leaders Symposium on the
Scientific Development & International Environmental
Forum on Leapfrogging Development in China

• Objectives

To examine how to better implement the scientific concept of development and leapfrogging development in China

To research prescriptions for the commercialization of environmental technologies and environmental undertakings

To appreciate the insights of international environmental leaders and examine the forecasts for social and economic development in China over the next two decades

To share knowledge of multi-win cases for transnational and local corporations in the social, economic, and environmental fields

To demonstrate the achievements and exchange experiences of the China BELL (Business, Environment, Learning, and Leadership) Program

• Environmental Leaders who will be attending

Renowned international environmentalists and scholars will be invited to give lectures at the symposium and the forum.

Maurice Strong, UN Undersecretary General and Special Advisor to the UN Secretary General

Denis Hayes, Founder of Earth Day, President and CEO of Bullitt Foundation, former Director of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory; former President of Energy Foundation

Lester Brown, President of Earth Policy Institute, Founder and former President of World Watch Institute

Professor Qu Geping, President of China Environmental Protection Foundation, former Chair of the Environmental and Resources Committee of the NPC

Leaders of SEPA will also attend the meetings and give speeches. There will be participants from governments, business schools, environmental colleges and research institutes, international and local corporations, international organizations, and media.

• Simultaneous interpretation

For the sake of efficient communication, simultaneous interpretation will be arranged to serve both meetings.

• Deadline

Please fax the completed form to CEEC of SEPA before May 22nd, 2004.

• Registration Fee

Business participant: 2000RMB/person (1600RMB for Forum, 400RMB for Symposium)
Other participant: 1000RMB/person (800RMB for Forum, 200RMB for Symposium)
Participant from West China: 500RMB/person (400RMB for Forum, 100RMB for Symposium)

• Hotel Accommodation

The organizing committee has reserved accommodations for all participants, but the room rates are not included in the registration fee. Participants should cover their own accommodation costs.
