China’s Road to Environmental Protection

Marking the 30th anniversary of the UN Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm, as well as the 10th anniversary of the UN Conference on Environment and Development (Earth Summit) in Rio de Janeiro, and painting a comprehensive picture of the course of China’s environmental protection efforts over the past 30 years – a course of steady development in spite of all difficulties – the CEEC produced the TV series ‘China’s Road to Environmental Protection’. This series provides full and accurate materials, presented in simple and unembellished narration, put together according to respective time and topic, passing through each phase of development, highlighting far-reaching events of great significance, displaying in a panoramic view the course of China’s environmental protection efforts as they progressively increased over time.

The series covers important personalities of Chinese national and local environmental protection work, like Vice-Chairman of the National Political Consultative Conference SONG Jian, Chair of the Environmental and Resource Protection Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress QU Geping, Minister of the State Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) XIE Zhenhua, SEPA Vice-Ministers ZHU Guangyao, WANG Yuqing, etc., as well as a large number of common people working at the forefront of environmental protection efforts, and concerned parties giving their accounts of major topics, which adds to the objectivity and authority of the coverage.

While openly praising the great achievements in Chinese environmental protection, the series at the same time does not avoid mentioning contradictory issues and problems demanding prompt solution. Not only is it a historic review and summary of environmental protection efforts in China, but it moreover provides an important window for an audience at home and abroad that gives insight to the history as well as the status quo of China’s environmental protection work.

The series consists of the following 7 volumes:
