Intro Benefits of Clean Energy

The aim of NRDC's China clean energy project is to support China's efforts to develop a sustainable energy system that maximizes energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources.

For many years NRDC has worked to advance sustainable energy use in the United States and abroad. In 1996, after joining a clean-energy delegation to China at the request of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy, NRDC launched the China clean energy project.

Since that time, several Chinese partners have asked NRDC's project team to share its experience promoting economically sound environmental policies. NRDC works at the national level in China with key agencies and organizations, and also works with their local counterparts in several regions and cities, including Beijing, Chongqing, Jiangsu, Shandong, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Shanxi and Shenzhen. The China clean energy project presently focuses on three areas:
