During this period he has gained great experience in contracting,
erection and commissioning of power plants.
As Power Station Manager Mr Christensen was responsible for the
introduction of TQM (Total Quality Management) activities at Asn?s
Power Station. These activities led to the power station having

coal-fired power stations in the world. Today, the power station’s
640 MW unit 5 is primarily Orimulsion fired. This firing is governed
by TQM as well
Mr Christensen has worked as co-ordinator of a maintenance policy
development project for the Malaysian power authorities. The outcome
of the project was a maintenance policy manual systematically describing
target, principles, responsibilities, procedures and routines.
Mr Christensen has worked as Project Manager of an EU, Tacis project
in Ukraine. The project title was “Support to Maintenance and Repair
Structure in Thermal Power Plants in Ukraine”. During the project
time Mr Christensen lived 10 month in Kiev, Ukraine. The outcome
is a comprehensive experience in operation and maintenance of Ukrainian
Power Stations and knowledge of the organisation in the Ministry,
in the Production Companies and at the power stations. During the
stay in Ukraine Mr Christensen learned some Russian.
During the stay in Ukraine, Mr Valdemar Christensen negotiated
introduction of Orimulsion on coal fired units with the manager
of the conventional fired units in Energodar, Ukraine
2000.06.01 Mr Christensen retired from Asnaes Power Station. The

city of Kalundborg in
Denmark as member of the city government and chairman of the municipality′s
environmental and technical department
1999 - Implementation of modern maintenance philosophies and principles

of Energy.
Responsible for employment of two local sub-consults KCDB ( a state
company )
and IPMach ( a private company ) both situated in Kharkov, Ukraine.
Has
established a good relation to the Technical University of Kharkov
as well and to
the Thermal Power Station in Energodar in south Ukraine. Has lived
in Kiev for
10 month.
Together with Urij Gnesin, Valdemar Christensen has investigated
the possibility for introduction of orimulsion on the coal fired
units in Energodar in Ukraine.
1997 - Preparation of the basis for further cooperation between
Asn?s Power Station and Statoil Refinery with the purpose of obtaining
a more flexible use of the produc?tion facilities of both organisations.
Preparation of basis for increased process steam supplies from Asn?s
Power Station.
Formulation of new firing concept for orimulsion, the combustion
of which is difficult to control. Economy and environmental consideration
are important aspects of the new concept that will be tested at
Stigsn?s Power Station in the year 2000. The concept includes optimisation
of electrostatic precipitator, desulphorisation of fluegas from
firing orimulsion and processing of fly-ash from orimulsion.
1985 - today Examiner in the subject Energy Conversion Technology
at the Technical Univer?sity of Denmark.
1992 - 1996 Co-ordinator of the EUROenergy Training Programme in
the framework of the FORCE programme on Human Resources Development
initiated by the Commis?sion of the European Communities. A European
network has been established for the purpose of further developing
the training policy introduced at Asn?s Power Station and exchanging
the experience gained with other European power stations. The network
participants include Kilroot Power Station in Northern Ireland,
Moneypoint Generating Station in Ireland, and EDP Electricidade
de Portugal.

Asn?s Power Station, Statoil Refinery, Gyproc (plasterboard manufacturer),
Novo Nordisk – Denmark’s largest industrial undertakings - and Kalundborg
Municipality. The symbiosis aims at the exploitation by the companies
involved of the by-products of the individual companies.
Responsible for laying down the environmental policy of SK Power
including working environment in connection with the conversion
of unit 5 (640 MW) at Asn?s Power Station to Orimulsion firing.
The policy resulted in the introduction of Orimulsion in cooperation

the overall maintenance philosophy, policy and strategy for TNB
in order to meet a set of main objectives pertaining to plant safety,
availability, efficiency and to maintenance cost, as well as to
prepare for a future quality assurance of the maintenance in accordance

approaches by training the entire organisation at all staff levels
rather than training the individuals per?forming discrete functions
within the organisation. The result was a dynamic analysis and training
activities designed to attain the "overall picture" of
the organisation's goals. The idea was to make the employees at
all levels more service-minded and conscious of quality and cost.

IP turbine rotor due to a malfunction?ing draining valve. The task
of the working group was also to give recommendations to remedy
and to manage the repair works.
